RED HEART® “Baby Econo®”: 5 skeins No. 1722 Light Pink [available in traditional solid colors – 7 oz (198 g), 675 yd (617 m); pompadour solid and multi colors – 6 oz (170 g), 460 yd (421 m)].Crochet Hook: 4mm [US G-6].
Yarn needle.
Blankie measures approximately 34″ x 37″.
GAUGE: 15 sts = 4″; 12 rows = 4″ in pattern. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.
SPECIAL ABBREVIATIONS:
Fptr (front post treble crochet): [yarn over] twice, insert the hook from front to back to front around the post of the stitch indicated and draw a loop through, [yarn over and draw through 2 loops] 3 times. Skip the sc directly behind the fptr
Cross Stitch: Skip next st, dc in next st, working behind dc just made, dc in skipped st.

Row 3: Ch 3, skip first sc, dc next sc and in each sc across; turn.
Row 4: Ch 1, sc in each dc across and in top of ch-3; turn.
Row 5: Ch 3, skip first sc, dc in next sc, fptr around post of dc 1 row below next sc, * cross stitch over next 2 sc, fptr around post of dc 1 row below next sc; rep from * to last 2 sc; dc in last 2 sc; turn.
Row 6: Ch 1, sc in each st across and in top of ch-3; turn.
Row 7: Ch 3, skip first sc, dc in next sc, * fptr around fptr, cross stitch over next 2 sc; rep from * to last 2 sc; dc in last 2 sc; turn.
Row 8: Ch 1, sc in each st across and in top of ch-3; turn.
Rep Rows 7 and 8 until blanket measures approximately 36½” from beginning, end by working Row 8.
Last Row: Ch 1, sc in each sc across. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Fringe:
Cut yarn in 14” lengths. Holding 2 strands together, fold in half, forming a loop; insert hook from wrong side of fabric into sc and into the loop; draw the loop through the fabric; draw the yarn ends through the loop and tighten. Trim ends. Make fringe in each sc across top and bottom of afghan.
