Yarn needle
Scarf measures 6½” x 60” (16.5 cm x 152.5 cm)Hat measures 18” (45.5 cm) circumference. Hat will stretch to fit a range of sizes
GAUGE: 8 sts = 5” (10 cm); 11 rows = 4” (10 cm) in Woven Stitch pattern. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge given.
Special Stitch
WS (Woven stitch)= Yarn over, insert hook in designated st, yarn over and draw yarn through st AND through 1 loop on hook, yarn over, draw yarn through 2 loops on hook (first half of WS completed); yarn over, insert hook in same st, yarn over, draw yarn through st AND through 2 loops on hook (second half of WS completed).
SCARF
Ch 23.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn—22 sc.
Row 2: Ch 2, skip first st, WS in next sc, *skip next sc, WS in next sc; repeat from * across, turn—11 WS.
Row 3: Ch 2, WS in space between each WS and in ch-2 turning space, turn.
Repeat Row 3 until scarf measures 60” (152.5 cm) or desired length.
Last Row: Ch 1, 2 sc in space between each WS. Fasten off.
FINISHING SCARF
Weave in ends.
HAT
Note:Do not turn unless instructed to do so.
Ch 4, join with slip st in first ch to form a ring.
Round 1: Ch 1, work 7 sc in ring; join with slip st in first sc—7 sc.
Rounds 2-4: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc; join with slip st in first sc—56 sc at end of Round 4.
Round 5: Ch 2, skip first sc, WS in 2nd sc, *skip next sc, WS in next sc; repeat from * around; join with slip st in top of turning ch, turn—28 WS.
Rounds 6-30: Ch 2, WS in space between each WS and in ch-2 turning space; join with slip st in top of turning ch, turn.
Round 31: Ch 2, 2 sc in space between each WS and in ch-2 turning space; join with slip st in top of turning ch—56 sc. Fasten off.
FINISHING HAT
Weave in ends.
