#21 Yellow Brick Crochet Dishcloth

A lot of the dishcloth patterns that we are posting are created using crochet pattern books.  We have several books available at MaggiesCrochet.com for that you could use to design your own dishcloth.  The dishcloths are a great way to practice new stitches without getting too frustrated like you might with a bigger project.

Size: About 10” square

Materials: Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn:

Yellow – 2½ oz, 120 yds (71 g, 109 m)

(Lily Sugar ‘n Cream – Country Yellow)

Crochet Hook: Size H-8 (5.00 mm)

Dishcloth

Row 1: (Right Side) Ch 39, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next 6 ch, * (ch 1, skip next ch, dc in next ch) 4 times, dc in next 6 ch; rep from * once more, dc in last ch. (29 dc)

Rows 2-3: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), turn, dc in next 7 dc, * (ch 1, dc in next dc) 4 times, dc in next 6 ch; rep from * once more, dc in last dc. (29 dc)

Row 4: Ch 4 (counts as first dc and ch 1), turn, * (skip next dc, dc in next dc, ch 1) 3 times, (dc in next ch-1 sp, dc in next dc) 3 times, dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1; rep from * once more, (skip next dc, dc in next dc, ch 1) 3 times, dc in last dc.

Rows 5-6: Ch 4 (counts as first dc and ch 1), turn, * (dc in next dc, ch 1) 3 times, dc in next 7 dc, ch 1; rep from * once more, (dc in next dc, ch 1) 3 times, dc in last dc.

Row 7: Ch 3, turn, dc in next ch-1 sp, * (dc in next dc, dc in next ch-1 sp) 3 times, (ch 1, skip next dc, dc in next dc) 3 times, ch 1, skip next dc, dc in next ch-1 sp; rep from * once more, (dc in next dc, dc in next ch-1 sp) 3 times, dc in last ch. (29 dc)

Rows 8-18: Rep from Rows 2-7 once and then Rows 2-6.

At the end of Row 18, DO NOT FINISH OFF.

Edging

Rnd 1: Ch 1, turn, (right side facing), 3 sc in first dc, sc in each ch-1 sp and dc across to last dc, 3 sc in last dc; * working in sides of rows, evenly sc across *; working in unused lps of starting ch, 3 sc in first ch, (sc in next ch) across to last ch, 3 sc in last ch; rep from * to * once; join with sl st to first sc. Finish off and weave in ends.

    While this one uses a simple technique, I had to pay close attention at first to get the spacing correct. Once I got the system down, though, it worked up pretty quickly!
