Designer Lynn Jackson wrote: “My Nana taught me to crochet when I was 11, but I never finished my first doily. I picked up my hook again when I was a student in Paris and made an afghan for my mother-in-law-to-be. I love to create useable items. I (sometimes) us my crochet to justify watching TV. I joined this challenge to give something back to everyone who inspired me with their wonderful designs. Dishcloths and can cozies are my favorites!
Thank you Lynn for joining the Dishcloth-A-Day Challenge.

Skill: Intermediate
Size: About 7” wide and 8” long
Materials: Worsted Weight Cotton: Blue – 1 oz, 50 yd (30 g, 46 m); Orange – 1 oz, 50 yd (30 g, 46 m); Yellow – 1 oz, 50 yd (30 g, 46 m)(I Love This Cotton)
Crochet Hook: Size H-8 (5.00 mm)
JOINING WITH SC
When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.
To Change Colors
Work last stitch before color change to last step, with new color, yo and pull new color through remaining lps on hook. Drop unused color to wrong side. Do not work over unused color.
DISHCLOTH
Note: You do not have to fasten off each row. Let color hang at end of row and attach next color in last st of previous row, so ch-2 of new row is in next color. You will need to ‘juggle’ the balls of yarn so as not to get them tangled, but this is not difficult.
Row 1: (Right Side) With Blue, ch 28, dc in 4th ch from hook (skipped ch counts as first dc), [ch 2, skip next 2 ch, dc in next 2 ch] across. (14 dc and 6 ch-2 sps) DO NOT FINISH OFF (see Note). Change to Orange.
Row 2: With Orange, ch 2, turn, skip next dc, [working in skipped sts on starting ch, dc in next 2 ch, ch 2, on this row, skip next 2 dc] across, ending with hdc in last dc, changing to Yellow.
Row 3: With Yellow, ch 2, turn, [working over ch-2 lps into skipped dc of previous row, dc in next 2 dc, ch 2, on this row, skip next 2 dc] across, ending with hdc in last st, changing to Blue.
Row 4: With Blue, ch 2, turn, [working over ch-2 lps into skipped dc of previous row, dc in next 2 dc, ch 2, on this row, skip next 2 dc] across, ending with hdc in last st, changing to Orange.
Row 5: With Orange, ch 2, turn, [working over ch-2 lps into skipped dc of previous row, dc in next 2 dc, ch 2, on this row, skip next 2 dc] across, ending with hdc in last st, changing to Yellow.
Rows 6-20: Rep Rows 3-5.
Row 21: Rep Row 3.
Row 22: With Blue, ch 1, turn, sc in first hdc, [working in skipped dc of previous row, dc in next 2 dc, on this row, sc in next 2 dc] across, ending with sc in last st. DO NOT FINISH OFF.
Edging
Rnd 1: Ch 1, turn, (right side facing), evenly sc around, working 3 sc in each corner, and working over yarn along sides to hide ends. Finish off and weave in ends.
