#305 Marjorie Crochet Dishcloth – Maggie Weldon Maggies Crochet

TUESDAY NOVEMBER 1, 2011

Designer Linda Kahle wrote: “This dishcloth is in Honor of my Mother – who passed away in 2000 with Breast Cancer. Marjorie N. Rounds. Mom taught myself and my twin sister (Suzie) many things. The three of us had the most Fun when we were sewing and cooking together. She would tell her friends that she had an electric dish washer and dryer (myself and my sister). She was always talking about us to her friends. So when they would meet us, it would be … Oh, so you two girls like to do… what ever. They were always asking us to help do something. I taught myself to crochet many, many years ago. I did try teaching Mom – she just couldn’t pick it up. She did try… But.. oh well. She was much better at sewing and cooking. My sister and I always had look-alike outfits. And I mean always. When I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 1996, Mom said, “This is just not Right – a Parent just should not see their child go through something like this”. (I had lost all my hair and was real sick.) I remember telling her, “Mom I’m not a little girl any more”. And to that she said, “You’ll always be my little Surprise”. You see she did not know she was having twins. When she awoke, she asked, “How is my baby and what did I have?” They told her that her babies were just fine and that she had twin girls. And to hear Mother tell the story she laugh. Why? You see… She had a Best friend whose name was Suzie. She was going to call her daughter that if she had a girl. She had told Suzie that if she had twins, Suzie could have one. Well you guessed it. Right in the hospital Suzie asked, “Which one is mine?” Of course Mother kept both of us. But she didn’t have a name for me. And one of the Nurse’s name was Linda. So that was me.”
