Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn: Pink – 3½ oz, 207 yd (100 g, 188 m)

(Lion Brand Cotton Ease)

Crochet Hook: Size I-9 (5.50 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: 6 dc = 2”; 4 rows dc = 2”

Special Stitches

Double Crochet Decrease (dc dec): Keeping last loop of each st on hook, dc in next 2 sts, yo and pull through 3 loops on hook.

Front Post Double Crochet: (FPdc): Yo hook, insert hook from front to back to front around post of indicated st, yo hook, pull up lp, [yo hook, pull through 2 lps] twice.

Unless noted otherwise, always skip the st behind the FPdc.

Back Post Double Crochet: (BPdc): Yo hook, insert hook from back to front to back around post of indicated st, yo hook, pull up lp, [yo hook, pull through 2 lps] twice.

Unless noted otherwise, always skip the st in front of the BPdc.

PATTERN

Rnd 1: (Right Side) Starting at center, ch 4, sl st in first ch to form ring; ch 3, 11 dc in ring; join with sl st to first dc. Join all dc rounds in this manner. (12 dc)

Rnd 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), dc in same st as joining, 2 dc in each dc around; join as before. (24 dc)

Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in same st as joining, dc in next dc, [2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc] around; join as before. (36 dc)

Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, [dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc] around; join as before. (48 dc)

Rnd 5: Ch 3, dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, [dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc] around; join as before. (60 dc)

Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, [ch 3, skip next dc, sc in next dc] around to last dc, ch 1, skip last dc, dc in first sc (to form last lp and position yarn for next round). (30 ch-3 lps)

Rnds 7-8: Ch 1, sc in last lp made, [ch 3, sc in next lp] around to last lp, ch 1, dc in first sc (to form last lp and position yarn for next round). (30 ch-3 lps)

Rnd 9: Ch 3, dc in last lp made, [2 dc in next lp] around; join with sl st to first dc. (60 dc)

Rnds 10-14: Ch 3, [dc in next dc] around; join as before. (60 dc)

Rnd 15: Ch 3, dc in next 7 dc, dc dec, [dc in next 8 dc, dc dec] around; join with sl st around post of first dc. (54 dc)

Rnds 16-17: Ch 3, FPdc in next dc, [BPdc in next dc, FPdc in next dc] around; join with sl st around post of first dc. (54 dc)

Rnd 18: Ch 1, sc in each dc around; join with sl st to first sc. (54 sc) Finish off and weave in ends.

    This will make a great chemo hat. I showed my sister and she said that I should make it for the cancer center where she has been having treatments and where she has received hats.
