Curlicue Hat

Skill: Easy
Size: To fit Adult head.
Materials: Sport Weight Yarn: Blue – 2½ oz Worsted Weight Yarn: Yellow – ½ oz Green – ½ oz Pink – ½ oz
Crochet Hook: Size J-10 (6.00 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.
Gauge: With 3 strands Sport Weight yarn: 6 sc = 2″; 6 rows sc = 2″
HAT
Row 1: (Right Side) Holding 3 strands Blue together, ch 26, sc in 2nd ch from hook, [sc in next ch] across. (25 sc)
Rows 2-48: Ch 1, turn, working in back loops only, sc in each sc across. (18 sc)
At the end of Row 48, finish off leaving 18″ long end.
Curlicues (Make 3 – 1 each of Yellow, Green & Pink)
Row 1: (Right Side) With colored yarn, ch 31, 4 dc in 3rd ch from hook, [4 dc in next ch] 13 times, sl st in next 4 ch, [4 dc in next ch] 14 times. Finish off and weave in ends.
Assembly – use photo as guide
– Using long end and yarn needle, with wrong side of Hat facing, sew last row to first row to form a tube. DO NOT CUT YARN.
– Turn tube inside out, with right side facing, work a running stitch along side of rows at one edge of tube. Pull yarn snugly to gather. DO NOT FINISH OFF.
– Holding all three curlicues together at the center sl sts, sew Curlicues to top of Hat. Finish off and weave in ends.
– Turn up bottom edge of Hat.
