Valentine Heart Coaster
Add a bit of romance to any table setting with easy-to-crochet heart coasters. We show them in pink and red, but yours can be any color you desire!

- RED HEART® Super Saver®
- 319 Cherry Red and 706 Perfect Pink
- Susan Bates® Crochet hook: 5mm [H-8]
- Stitch markers
Gauge: 4 sc = 1″ (2.5 cm); 4 rows = 1″ (2.5 cm). CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.
Finished Measurements: 5” wide x 5 ¼” tall (12.7 cm wide x 133 cm tall)
Special Stitch
Reverse Single Crochet (reverse sc): Without turning work, insert hook in st to right of hook, yo, pull up loop, yo, pull thru both loops on hook.

Mitered Square
Row 1 (Right Side): Ch 2, (sc, ch 2, sc) in 2nd ch from hook, place marker in ch-2 space—2 sc, 1 ch-2 space.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in next st, (sc, ch 2, sc) in marked ch-2 space, sc in next st—4 sc, 1 ch-2 space.
Rows 3–10: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across to marked ch-2 space, (sc, ch 2, sc) in marked ch-2 space, sc in each remaining st across—20 sc, 1 ch-2 space at end of last row.
Mitered Square

Row 2: Rep row 2 from First Hump—11 dc.
Do not fasten off.

Row 1: Ch 1, turn, skip sl st, *2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts*, repeat from * to * twice, 2 sc in next st, sc in ends of next 11 rows, (sc, ch 2, sc) in beginning ch at point, turn 90 degrees to work along next side, sc in ends of next 11 rows, skip slip st, repeat from * to * 3 times, 2 sc in next st, ch 1, skip next st, slip st in end of Row 1 of First Hump—52 sc, 1 ch-2 space.
Row 2: Ch 1, do not turn, skip slip st, reverse sc in first sc, reverse sc in each st around to ch space, reverse sc in ch space, reverse sc in each remaining sc around, ch 1, sl st in end of Row 1 of Second Hump—53 reverse sc.
Fasten off.
