11″ of ¼”-wide (6.4mm) elastic; Five ½” (12.7 mm) white buttons; White sewing thread; Sewing needle

Perfect for going to parties or other summer occasions, this ruffled skirt is paired with a classic tee. Coordinating bag is added for a nicely put-together look.

Gauge/Tension:     GAUGE: 16 sts = 4″ (10 cm); 20 rows = 4″ (10 cm). CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

Clothes designed for 18” (45.5 cm) doll. Tee Shirt measures: 8½” (21.5 cm) wide x 7” (18 cm) long

Skirt measures: 9” (23 cm) wide x 6” (15 cm) long Purse measures: 3” (8 cm) wide x 3” (8 cm) high

Special Techniques

For Sashay Mini: Work with the edge with the large mesh holes, inserting the crochet hook through the holes. The edge with the smaller holes will become the ruffle.

Change color: At end of sc, with 2 loops left on hook, drop first color; pick up new color, yarn over, draw new color through both loops to complete the stitch.

Buttonhole Placket

Row 1: Rotate work so that side of Row 26 is on top; ch 1, work one sc in the side of each Row; turn—26 sc.

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in next 2 sc, ch 1, skip 1 sc, [sc in next 4 sc, ch 1, skip 1 sc] 4 times, sc in

next 3 sc; turn—26 sts.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each sc and ch-1 space across—26 sc. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Assembly

Using white sewing thread, sew Buttons onto Tee Shirt, centering one Button under each Buttonhole.

SKIRT

With B, ch 41.

Row 1 (Right side): Skipping first ½” (12.7 mm) of elastic, hold elastic above foundation ch and loosely sc over elastic, working in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across; leave last ½” (12.7 mm) of elastic unworked—40 sc. Place loop on stitch holder. With sewing thread, tack ends of elastic in place; trim excess elastic. Place loop back on hook; turn.

Rows 2-3: Ch 1, sc across; turn.

Row 4: Ch 1, sc in next 3 sc, [2 sc in next sc, sc in next 7 sc] 4 times, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc; turn—45 sc.

Rows 5-6: Ch 1, sc across; turn.

Row 7: Ch 1, sc in next 4 sc, [2 sc in next sc, sc in next 8 sc] 4 times, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc; turn—50 sc.

Rows 8-9: Ch 1, sc across; turn.

Row 10: Ch 1, sc in next 4 sc, [2 sc in next sc, sc in next 9 sc] 4 times, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc; turn—55 sc.

Row 11 (Attach Ruffle): Ch 1, place C on top of work so cut end is on the right and ball is on the left. Leaving a 2” end to sew to wrong side later, insert hook through a large mesh hole in C and then through the first sc from Row 10, sc together using B; *skip one hole in C and insert hook into the next hole in C and then through the next sc from Row 10, sc together using B; repeat from * across—55 sc. Cut C, leaving a 2” end. Do not fasten off B.

Rows 12-13: With B, ch 1, sc across; turn.

Row 14 (Attach Ruffle): Ch 1, place C behind work so cut end is on the right and ball is on the left. Leaving a 2” (5.1 cm) end to sew to wrong side later, insert hook through first sc from Row 13 and then through a large mesh hole in C, sc together using B; *insert hook into the next sc from Row 13, then skip one hole in C and insert hook into the next hole in C, sc together using B; repeat from * across—55 sc. Cut C, leaving a 2” end. Do not fasten off B.

Rows 15-16: Repeat Rows 12 and 13.

Row 17: Repeat Row 11.

Rows 18-19: Repeat Rows 12 and 13. Fasten off, leaving long end for sewing.

Assembly

Using B, sew side edges together, matching Rows of sc; fasten off and weave in ends.

Using thread, sew matching ends of C together and tack to inside of Skirt.

PURSE

With B, ch 21.

Row 1 (Wrong side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and next 18 ch, 3 sc in last ch; turn to work in opposite side of foundation ch; sc in next 19 ch; turn—41 sc.

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in next 20 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in last 20 sc; turn—43 sc.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in next 21 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in last 21 sc; turn—45 sc.

Row 4: Ch 1, sc in next 22 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in last 22 sc; turn—47 sc.

Row 5: Ch 1, sc in next 23 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in last 23 sc, change color to A in last sc;

turn—49 sc.

Row 6: Ch 1, sc in next 24 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in last 24 sc; turn—51 sc.

Finishing

For Strap, ch 51, slip st in first sc of Row 6 to join. Fasten off, leaving long end for sewing.

Using photograph as a guide, fold Purse into thirds and sew sides closed using A. Weave in ends.
