Sometimes we have fun with naming the dishcloths. When we get stuck we pass it around to everyone in the office for ideas. Wendi came up with the name Lava Lamp for this dishcloth all on her own.
The name inspired me to do a little research on the Lava Lamp which was popular during the 60’s and 70’s. I was very surprised to find out that that blob that moves up and down inside the glass tube is actually wax! The light heats the wax and water inside causing the wax to become lighter and float to the top. At the top the wax cools, becomes more solid and floats back down to the bottom where it is heated and the whole cycle starts over.
The Lava Lamp was invented by a Britishman Edward Craven-Walker in 1963.
Who would have throught that the Lava Lamp would become part of our story!

Materials: Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn:
Multicolor – 2 oz, 95 yds (57 g, 86 m)
(Sugar ‘n Cream – Lava Lamp)
Crochet Hook: Size H-8 (5.00 mm)
Dishcloth
Row 1: (Right Side) Ch 33, 2 dc in 5th ch from hook (skipped ch counts as ch 1 and first dc), (skip next ch, 2 dc in next ch) across, ending with skip next ch, dc in last ch.
Rows 2-18: Ch 3, turn, (2 dc in middle of next 2-dc group) across, ending with dc in last dc.
At the end of Row 18, finish off and weave in ends.
