Designer Jennifer Carraway wrote: “The blue dishcloth was a design of my grandmother Elaine. She died a few years ago and left each of her 8 kids some of her belongings. I was at my parents house a few weeks ago when I saw this dishcloth hanging out in the kitchen. I picked it up and told my mom that I could recreate this without a pattern-but bigger. So I did. I am so proud of myself! My grandmother crocheted for at least 20+ years. According to my Aunt Lisa, Elaine took lessons and then taught her children. She was right handed and even taught one of my aunts how to crochet left handed. She enjoyed making large afghans, hats, purses, booties, and sweaters. I know my family will be excited!”

Size: About 9” square.
Materials: Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn: Multicolor – 2 oz, 95 yds (57 g, 86 m); (Sugar ‘n Cream Stripes – Country Side Ombre)
Crochet Hook: Size H-8 (5.00 mm)
DISHCLOTH
Row 1: (Right Side) Ch 33, dc in 5th ch from hook (skipped ch count as first dc and ch 1), [skip next ch, dc in next ch] across. (16 dc and 15 ch-1 sps)
Rows 2-14: Ch 4 (counts as first dc and ch 1), turn, dc in next dc, [ch 1, dc in next dc] across. (16 dc and 15 ch-1 sps)
At the end of Row 14, DO NOT FINISH OFF.
Edging
Rnd 1: Ch 1, turn (right side facing), 3 sc in first dc, sc in next ch-1 sp, [sc in next dc, sc in next ch-1 sp] across to last dc, 3 sc in last dc; * working in sides of rows, 2 sc in each row *; working in unused lps of starting ch, 3 sc in first ch, [sc in next ch] across to last ch, 3 sc in last ch; rep from * to *; join with sl st to first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, [dc in next sc] around, working 2 dc in center sc of each corner 3-sc group; join with sl st to first dc. Finish off and weave in ends.

Great pattern! I made one and it worked up so fast.
This worked up great in my varigated yarn. I like the darker colors that do not look dingy so quickly after you begin using them.
