Lumpy Dishcloth

Skill: Easy
Size: About 8” square.
Materials: Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn: Blue – 2½ oz, 125 yd (75 g, 115 m) (Sugar ‘n Cream -Light Blue)
Crochet Hook: Size I-9 (5.50 mm)
Gauge: 3 patt sts (hdc, sl st) = 2″, 4 patt rows = 2″.
JOINING WITH SC
When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.
DISHCLOTH
Row 1: (Right Side) With Blue, ch 23, sc in 2nd ch from hook, [sc in next ch] across. (22 sc)
Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as first hdc now and throughout), turn, sl st in next sc, [hdc in next sc, sl st in next sc] across.
Rows 3-23: Ch 2, turn, sl st in next hdc, [hdc in next sl st, sl st in next hdc] across.
Row 24: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across. (22 sc) DO NOT FINISH OFF.
Edging
Rnd 1: Ch 3, turn, (right side facing), dc in same first sc, dc in next 20 sc, 3 dc in next sc, * working in sides of rows, dc in each row *; working in unused lps of starting ch, 3 dc in first ch, sc in next 20 ch, 3 dc in last ch; rep from * to *, dc in first sc; join with sl st to first dc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, DO NOT TURN, 2 sl sts in first dc, sl st in each dc around, working 2 sl st in center dc of each 3-dc group; join to first sl st. Finish off and weave in ends.

I made one of this pattern yesterday in a printed cotton and it is beautiful. This pattern will become one of my new favorites. Thanks to Carol Ballard for her great designs
Another nice cloth. I had never done the hdc, sl st sequence and I really like the look of it. Only problem I had was not being able to figure out how to do 2 sl st in one stitch, so I just did one and it looked fine.
