Loop Stitch Granny Afghan – Free Crochet Pattern

The Loop Stitch Granny Afghan offers a whole new twist on the granny square!  A loop stitch flower is worked in the middle rounds.  The flower is then surrounded by rounds of granny square stitches.  It really is a very clever idea.  Each square measures 5” across.  After crocheting 48 square you sew them together to create your beautiful masterpiece.  Think about using your scrap yarn for an eco-friendly version of this charming afghan.

Thank you for this pattern. It is just what I have been looking for, something a little bit different to make a rug for a friend who has made patchwork blankets for each of my four grandchildren as they were born. This is going to be just a bit unique and will use up some of my scrap wool at the same time. I will be working on it over our long hot summer.
