#52 Fun Flower Crochet Dishcloth

Kathleen Stuart wrote:  I started my “career” in crochet in 1991 after reading about crochet designs wanted for a crochet magazine. I was amazed that my first design was accepted! I design as a hobby. My four children are my inspiration for many designs. I love to crochet stuffed animals and toys, along with afghans and other items. I enjoy using whimsy in many of my designs. My designs have been in many crochet magazines and books over the years.

I live in San Jose, California with my husband, Harold. I am a professional member of the Crochet Guild of America and enjoy attending my local chapter, South Bay Crochet. I love the opportunity that I have had to meet many of the crochet “greats” with this group. I joined the dishcloth challenge for several reasons. The first reason is that I love to make things for charity. The second reason is that I love a challenge!

The fun flower dishcloth started as a motif I found in a harmony guide. I was looking for a way to use up ends of balls of yarn. I added additional rows to make the dishcloth a useable size.

Thank you Kathleen for entering the challenge and creating this lovely dishcloth to share. – Maggie

To sterilize my dishcloths, I just put them in the microwave and zap them for one minute, that kills all the germs. I’ll be making this pattern this afternoon for my daughter who’ll I be seeing tomorrow. Such fun. Thank you for this pattern.

Even though I have been crocheting 40+ years and have checked the internet for stitches, I do not know nor can I locate the meaning of “so” in Row 3.

It says: “* ch 2, working over the ch-5 lp so as to enclose it,”

Is this a new abreviation or what? Please help. I can’t finish the dish cloth until I find out what
    “so” stands for.

    Thanks.

Linda – I am thinking that should read SC instead of SO. My old eyes saw SC and that is what I did for mine and it turned out just fine…. hope this helps!
