#87 Flower Basket Crochet Dishcloth

Size:
About 11” wide and 10” long.

Materials:
Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn: Beige – 1½ oz, 75 yd (45 g, 69 m) Various Flower Colors – 10 yds each, Green – ½ oz, 25 yd (15 g, 23 m) (I Love This Cotton – Woods Print # 230, Banana #256, Passion Flower #270, Amethyst #250, Royalty #90, Mulberry #262, Tuscany #272, Forest #52)

Crochet Hook: Size H-8 (5.00 mm)

Gauge:
6 Post-dc = 2″, 4 Post-dc rows = 2″.

JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

Special Stitches

Front Post Raised Double Crochet: (FPdc):
YO, insert hook in front of work from right to left around next dc of previous row, YO, pull up a lp, (YO, pull through 2 lps) twice. 

Back Post Raised Double Crochet: (BPdc):
YO, insert hook in back of work from right to left around next dc of previous row, YO, pull up a lp, (YO, pull through 2 lps) twice.

 Note: When FPdc or BPdc is worked, do not work st directly behind st. Skip this st and work in the next st.

FLOWERS

Bottom Row – First Flower

Rnd 1:
(Right Side) Starting at center, with Flower Color, ch 4, join with sl st in first ch to form ring; ch 4 (counts as first dc and ch 1), (dc in ring, ch 1) 7 times; join with sl st to first dc. (8 ch-1 sps)

Rnd 2:
Sl st to ch-1 sp, ch 1, (sc, 3 dc, sc) in same ch-1 sp, * (sc, 3 dc, sc) in next ch-1 sp; rep from * around; join with sl st to first sc. (8 petals) Finish off and weave in ends.

Note: Basket and Flowers are all worked and joined from the Right Side.

Bottom Row – Second Flower

Rnd 1:
With next color, rep Rnd 1 of Bottom Row First Flower.

Rnd 2:
Sl st to ch-1 sp, ch 1, (sc, 2 dc) in same sp; working on previous Flower, sl st in center dc of any petal; working on current Flower, (dc, sc) in same ch-1 sp, (sc, 2 dc) in next ch-1 sp; working on previous Flower, sl st in center dc of next petal; working on current Flower, (dc, sc) in same ch-1 sp, * (sc, 3 dc, sc) in next ch 1 sp; rep from * around; join with sl st to first sc. (8 petals, 2 joins) Finish off and weave in ends.

With right side facing, join Green with sl st to first sc on Row 9, working through both thicknesses, on Bottom Row First Flower, sc in sp between petals and same sc on Basket, working in single thickness across Bottom Row First Flower, (ch 3, sc in next st) across to join with Second Flower, skip sl-st join, (ch 3, sc in next st) across Second Flower to join with Top Row First Flower, skip sl-st join, (ch 3, sc in next st) twice, ch 1, sl st in corresponding lp on Bottom Row First Flower, ch 1, (sc in next st, ch 3) across Top Row (skipping sl-st join) to join with Third Flower, skip sl-st join, (sc in next st, ch 3) across Third Flower to join with Fourth Flower, skip sl-st join, (sc in next st, ch 3) twice, sc in next st, ch 1, sl st in corresponding lp on Top Row Second Flower, ch 1, (sc in next st, ch 3) across 4 petals on Fourth Flower, working through both thicknesses sc in next st and corner of Basket; working in lower 2 unjoined petals of each Flower, * (ch 3, sc in next st) across next two petals, sl st in last row of Basket, sc in next unjoined petal of next Flower; rep from * across; join with sl st to first sc. Center of Flowers (Optional)

Rnd 1:
With right side facing, join Green with sc to any unworked st on Second Flower, sc in every other st on center opening, skipping each sl-st join; join with sl st to first sc.

Rnd 2:
Ch 3, keeping last lp of each dc on hook, dc in every other sc around, yo, pull through all lps on hook. Finish off and weave in ends.

    Another pretty but tricky one! I was glad to see the end of this one – it turned out pretty BUT I got lost somewhere in the flowers…. and did my own thing. Mine is a little lop-sided but it is complete 🙂 Thanks for sharing.. I didn’t expect the flowers to be crocheted and joined together as I went.. that was a new thing to figure out! A nice challenge- even if I didn’t get it quite right 🙂
