AUNT LYDIA’S® “Bamboo Crochet Thread” Size 3: 2 balls 0012 Black.

Crochet Hook: 4mm [US G-6] and 3.5mm [US E-4].

Yarn needle, 20” black elastic (optional).
Wristers measure 15” long to thumb.

Directions are for one size.

GAUGE: 12 sc and 8 ch spaces = 4”; 12 rows = 4” using larger hook.

CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

 

SPECIAL ABBREVIATION

Fsc (foundation single crochet) = Ch 2, insert hook in 2nd chain from hook and pull up a loop, * yo, pull through loop (ch stitch made) yo, pull through 2 loops on hook (sc made). Insert hook in ch stitch and pull up a loop; repeat from * for as many fsc as called for in pattern.

NOTE: Wrister is worked back and forth for the lacy edging and then worked in the round for the remainder of pattern.

WRISTER

Fsc 41.

Row 1 (Right Side): (Ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in first fsc, * skip 3 fsc, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next fsc; repeat from * across (11 shell groups).

Row 2: (Ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in ch-2 space, * (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch-2 space; repeat from * across.

Row 3: Repeat Row 2. Fasten off.

Working on the chain side of the fsc, rejoin yarn in first st (looks like a sc).

Row 1: Sc in first fsc, * ch 2, skip 1 fsc, sc in next fsc; repeat from * across (21 sc and 20 ch-2 spaces).

At end of row, join and begin working in the round:

Round 1: Sc in first sc, * ch 2, sc in next sc; repeat from * 19 times more.

Rounds 2 – 8: Repeat Round 1.

Round 9: Sc in first sc, ch 1, sc in next sc, * ch 2, sc in next sc; repeat from * 17 times more, ch 1, sc in last sc.

Round 10: Sc in first sc, (skip ch-1 space), sc in next sc, * ch 2, sc in next sc; repeat from * 17 times more, skip last ch-1 space, sc in last sc.

Round 11: Sc in first sc, (skip next sc and ch-2 space), * ch 2, sc in next sc; repeat from * across 16 times more (skip ch-2 space and next sc), ch 2, sc in last sc (19 sc).

Round 12: Sc in first sc, * ch 2, sc in next sc; repeat from * 17 times more.

Rounds 13-23: Repeat Round 12.

Round 24: Sc in first sc, ch 1, sc in next sc, * ch 2, sc in next sc; repeat from * 15 times more, ch 1, sc in last sc.

Round 25: Sc in first sc, (skip ch-1 space), sc in next sc, * ch 2, sc in next sc; repeat from * 15 times more, skip last ch-1 space, sc in last sc.

Round 26: Sc in first sc, (skip next sc and ch-2 space), * ch 2, sc in next sc; repeat from * across 14 times more (skip ch-2 space and next sc), ch 2, sc in last sc (17 sc).

Round 27: Sc in first sc, * ch 2, sc in next sc; repeat from * 15 times more.

Rounds 28-41:Repeat Round 27.

Thumb Gusset

Round 42: Sc in first sc and in ch-2 space and next sc, * ch 2, sc in next sc; repeat from * 13 times more, sc in ch-2 space and in last sc (19 sc).

Round 43: Sc in first sc, (ch 1, sc in next sc) twice, * ch 2, sc in next sc; repeat from * 13 times more, (ch 1, sc in next sc) twice.

Round 44: Sc in first sc, * ch 2, sc in next sc; repeat from * 17 times more.

Rounds 45 & 46: Repeat Round 44.

Divide for Thumb

Round 47: Sc in first sc, * ch 2, sc in next sc; repeat from * 15 times more, ch 5, skip (ch 2, sc) twice and (sc, ch 2) twice, sc in next sc (new beginning of round).

Round 48: * Ch 2, sc in next sc; repeat from * 13 times more; ch 2, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch, ch 2, sc in beginning sc.

Round 49: * Ch 2, sc in next sc; repeat from * 15 times more (last sc will be made in same sc as beginning of next round).

Change to smaller hook. In same sc as just worked

Round 50: (Ch 2, dc, ch 2, 2 dc), * skip 1 sc, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next sc; repeat from * around, join with a slip stitch in first shell’s ch-2 space.

Round 51: Ch 3, (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in first ch-2 space, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in each ch-2 space around, join with a slip stitch to first dc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

If desired, weave elastic through each sc of beginning fsc, tie with a square knot. This is to keep the wrister in place above elbow.
