#45 Quilted Star Crochet Dishcloth

Back to the care of dishcloths… Deb F. wrote: “I use light colors so if I bleach them it doesn’t ruin them and hang over sink or tub to dry”.

Margaret P. wrote: “First wash in vinegar to set the color. In daily use I hang over the faucet or on dish drying rack – wherever the most airing is possible.

Skill: Easy

Size: About 9” square.

Materials: Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn:

White – 1½ oz, 75 yds (45 g, 68 m)

Red – ½ oz, 25 yd (15 g, 23 m)

Blue – ½ oz, 25 yd (15 g, 23 m)

(Sugar ‘n Cream – White, Country Red, Country Blue)

Crochet Hook: Size H-8 (5.00 mm)

JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

Dishcloth

Row 1: (Right Side) With White, ch 24, sc in 2nd ch from hook, (sc in next ch) across. (23 sc)

Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.

Rows 3-23: Working in sc, follow chart making necessary color changes with Red and Blue.

Rows 24-25: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.

At the end of Row 25, Finish off and weave in ends.

Edging

Rnd 1: With right side facing, join Red with sc to first sc on last Row, 2 sc in same sc, (sc in next sc) across to last sc, 3 sc in last sc; * working in sides of rows, evenly sc to corner *, working in unused lps of starting ch, 3 sc in first ch, (sc in next ch) across to last ch, 3 sc in last ch; rep from * to *; join with sl st to first sc. Finish off and weave in ends.

Rnd 2: With right side facing, join Blue with sl st to any corner sc, ch 3, (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same sc, (dc in next sc) around, working (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in each corner sc; join with sl st to first dc. Finish off and weave in ends.

    Hello love the dishcloth patterns, thank you for them, in the #45 quilted star pattern row 3 to 23 says to follow the chart for the color design I cant find the chart when I sign in, is it some where else? take care teapea

    OK after I sent my comment about no chart…it appeared. So if you can’t get a chart try because I had waited over 15 minutes for it to load. After the email it was there right away. Great site!! I love these. Maybe Potholders next year?

    This one turned out SO pretty! One thing I am enjoying a lot is learning new techniques. I am doing MUCH better with the graphed ones….. nice to see progress in skills 🙂
