Holidays are more fun when we create cheerful decorations that magically transform our surroundings to reflect the spirit of the occasion.
If you have never crocheted with thread before, this would be a great project to try. It took me years of crocheting before I tried crocheting with thread. I am very glad I finally did. It seems like it would take forever to create, but really with all the open spaces, the lace projects don’t take as long as you think. Thread projects make great heirlooms for family and friends.

Size: About 3½” round
Materials: Size 10 Crochet Cotton: White (W) – 15 yards; Small Red Satin Rosebud; Glue.
Crochet Hook: Steel 4 (2.00 mm)
JOINING WITH SC
When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.
Special Stitches
Cluster (cl): Keeping last loop of each st on hook, work 5 tr in st or sp indicated, yo and pull through all loops on hook.
General Starching Directions
Cut a piece of cardboard larger than the article to be stiffened. Cover the cardboard with clear plastic wrap.
Lay the article on the plastic, stretch out and pin into the correct shape.
Generously spray with heavy spray starch. Allow to dry completely.
This method allows for washing and re-starching whenever necessary.
CIRCLE WEB
Rnd 1: (Right Side) Starting at center, with White, ch 6, sl st in first ch to form ring; ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), 17 dc in ring; join with sl st to first dc. (18 dc)
DO NOT TURN EACH ROUND.
Rnd 2: Ch 4 (counts as first dc and ch 1), (dc in next dc, ch 1) around; join. (18 ch-1 sps)
Rnd 3: Ch 5 (counts as first dc and ch 2), (dc in next dc, ch 2) around; join. (18 ch-2 sps)
Rnd 4: Ch 6 (counts as first dc and ch 3), (dc in next dc, ch 3) around; join. (18 ch-3 sps)
Rnd 5: Ch 7 (counts as first dc and ch 4), (dc in next dc, ch 4) around; join. (18 ch-4 sps)
Rnd 6: Ch 1, (sc, 6 dc, sc) in ea ch-4 sp around; join with sl st to first sc.
Finishing
– Starch into a 3½-inch circle using general starching directions.
– Glue Rosebud to center of Circle.
