Skill: Easy to Intermediate

Size: About 8½” square

Materials: Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn:

Light Blue – 1 oz, 50 yds (30 g, 45 m)

White – 1 oz, 50 yds (30 g, 45 m)

Red – ½ oz, 25 yds (15 g, 22 m)

(Sugar ‘n Cream – Light Blue, White, Red)

Crochet Hook: Size H-8 (5.00 mm)

Special Stitches

Double Crochet Cluster (dc-cl): Keeping last lp of each dc on hook, dc in next 5 dc, yo, pull through all lps on hook.

Color Sequence

Rows 1-4 – Color Light Blue

Rows 5-8 – Color White

Rows 9-12 – Color Red

Rows 13-16 – Color Light Blue

DISHCLOTH

Row 1: (Wrong Side) With Color Blue, ch 28, sc in 2nd ch from hook, [sc in next ch] across. (27 sc)

Row 2: (Right Side) Ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), turn, skip first 3 sc, * 5 dc in next sc, skip next 4 sc; rep from * across, ending with 5 dc in next sc, skip next 2 sc, dc in last sc.

Row 3: Ch 5 (counts as first dc and ch 2), turn, skip first dc, dc-cl, ch 4; rep from * across, ending with dc-cl, ch 2, dc in last dc.

Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sc in first dc, 2 sc in ch-2 sp, * sc in top of dc-cl, 4 sc in next ch-4 sp; rep from * across, ending with sc in top of dc-cl, 2 sc in next ch-2 sp, sc in last dc. Change color.

Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.

Row 6: Ch 3, turn, skip first 3 sc, * 5 dc in next sc, skip next 4 sc; rep from * across, ending with 5 dc in next sc, skip next 2 sc, dc in last sc.

Rows 7-14: Rep Rows 3-6 twice.

Rows 15-16: Rep Rows 3-4 once more.

At the end of Row 16, do not change color. DO NOT FINISH OFF.

Edging

Rnd 1: Ch 1, turn, (right side facing), 2 sc in first dc, sc in next sp, sc in top of dc-cl, [2 sc in ch-2 sp, sc in next dc-cl] across to last ch-2 sp, sc in sp, 3 sc in last dc; * working in sides of rows, evenly work 18 sc *; working in unused lps of starting ch, 3 sc in first ch, [skip next ch, sc in next 2 ch, skip next ch, sc in next ch] across to last ch, 3 sc in last ch; rep from * to * once; working in Row 16, sc in first dc; join with sl st to first sc. (78 sc) Finish off Blue and weave in ends.

Rnd 2: With right side facing, join White with sl st to center sc of any corner 3-sc group, ch 3, 4 dc in same sc, skip next 2 sc, [5 dc in next sc, skip next 2 sc] around; join with sl st to first dc. Finish off and weave in ends.

    The Dishcloth each day is a wonderful idea. Whenever I
    decide to do each one, I make two, so I had a hot pad mat.
    Thank you for such delightful patterns, Maggie. Each one is a challenge.

    thanks very much for the new potholder it is hard to sleep sometimes and comeing here and finding a dishcloth helps… focuses my mind off HOUSE PROBLEMS HUGS ME
