Dips and Stripes Dishcloth

Skill: Easy

Size: About 10” square.

Materials: Worsted Weight Cotton: Purple – 2 oz, 100 yds (60 g, 92 m); Variegated – 1 oz, 50 yds (30 g, 46 m)

Crochet Hook:
Size H-8 (5.00 mm)

To Change Colors

Work last stitch before color change to last step, with new color, yo and pull new color through remaining lps on hook. Drop unused color to wrong side. Do not work over unused color.

JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

DISHCLOTH

Row 1:
(Right Side) With Purple, ch 28, sc in 2nd ch from hook, [sc in next ch] across. (27 sc)

Row 2:
Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.

Row 3:
Ch 1, turn, sc in first 3 sc; [working in Row 1, sc in corresponding st 2 rows down, working in current row, sc in next 3 sc] across.

Rows 4-5:
Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.

Row 6:
Ch 1, turn, sc in first 3 sc; [working in base of sc 2 rows down, sc in corresponding sc, working in current row, sc in next 3 sc] across.

Rows 7-12:
Rep Rows 4-6 twice.

Row 13-14:
Rep Rows 4-5.

At the end of Row 14, change color to Variegated.

Row 15:
With Variegated, ch 1, turn, sc in first sc; [working in base of sc 2 rows down, sc in corresponding sc, working in current row, sc in next 3 sc] across, omitting last 2 sc on final repeat.

Row 16-17:
Rep Rows 4-5.

Rows 18-26:
Rep Rows 15-17 three times.

At the end of Row 26, change color to Purple.

Row 27:
With Purple, ch 1, turn, sc in first 3 sc; [working in base of sc 2 rows down, sc in corresponding sc, working in current row, sc in next 3 sc] across.

Rows 28-29:
Rep Rows 4-5.

Rows 30-38:
Rep Rows 27-29 three times.

Row 39:
Rep Row 27. Finish off and weave in ends.

Edging

Rnd 1:
With right side facing, join Variegated with sc to any st, sc evenly around, working 3 sc in each corner; join with sl st to first sc.

Rnd 2:
Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, ch 1, skip next sc, [sc in next sc, ch 1, skip next sc] around, working 3 sc in each corner; join.

Rnd 3:
Sl st to ch-1 sp, ch 1, sc in same sp, ch 1, [sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1] around, working (sc, ch 1, sc) in each corner; join. Finish off and weave in ends.
