Crochet Hook: 5mm [US H-8].
Blanket measures 39” x 32”.
GAUGE: Square = 7½” across. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

Square 1: G, H, B.

Square 2: E, B, G.

Square 3: C, H, E.

Square 4: H, F, A.

Square 5: F, C, D.

Square 6: F, D, H.

Square 7: H, G, A.

Square 8: G, A, D.

Square 9: A, E, G.

Square 10: G, F, B.

Square 11: A, C, F.

Square 12: B, E, C.

Square 13: C, D, B.

Square 14: D, H, F.

Square 15: H, G, E.

Square 16: F, B, E.

Square: Make 20 squares, 1 in each color combination above.

Round 1: With first color, ch 5; join with a slip st in first ch to form a ring; ch 1, [sc, 2 dc] 8 times in ring; join with a slip st in first sc. Fasten off.

Round 2: Join 2nd color in back loop of any sc of Round 1; ch 3, [slip st in back loop of next sc, ch 3] 7 times; join with a slip st in back loop of first sc.

Round 3: [(Sc, dc, tr, dc, sc) in ch-3 space] 8 times; join in first sc.

Round 4: Working behind Rounds 2 and 3, in same back loops that Round 2 is worked in, [ch 4, slip st in next back loop] 8 times.

Round 5: [(Sc, dc, 3 tr, dc, sc) in ch-4 space] 8 times; join in first sc. Fasten off.
Round 6: Working behind Round 5, join 3rd color with a slip st around (not in) any sc of Round 1 (same sc’s that Rounds 2 and 4 were worked in); [ch 4, slip st around next sc of Round 1] 7 times, ch 4, slip st in same st as first slip st.

Round 7: Slip st in next ch-4 space, (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) all in same space, * [ch 1, dc] 3 times in next ch-4 space, ch 1 **, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next ch-4 space; repeat from * around, end at **; join with a slip st in top of ch-3.

Round 8: Slip st in next dc, ch 4, * (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-3 space, ch 1, skip next dc, dc in next dc, [ch 1, dc in next ch-1 space] 4 times, ch 1 **, skip next dc, dc in next dc, ch 1; repeat from * around, end at **; join in 3rd ch of ch-4.

Round 9: Ch 3, dc in next ch-1 space and next 3 dc, * (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner ch-2 space, dc in each dc and ch-1 space to next corner ch-2 space; repeat from * twice more; (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner ch-2 space, dc in each dc and ch-1 space to end of round; join in top of ch-3.

Round 10: Slip st in next dc, ch 4, [skip next dc, dc in next dc, ch 1] twice, * (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner ch-2 space, [ch 1, skip next dc, dc in next dc] 11 times, ch 1; repeat from * twice more; (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner ch-2 space, [ch 1, skip next dc, dc in next dc] 8 times, ch 1; join in 3rd ch of ch-4. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Holding wrong sides of Squares 1 and 2 together and working in both loops of both squares for each st, with color I, join bottom of Square 1 to top of Square 2 as follows: Slip st in ch st before first dc of edge, ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 2 dc, [sc in next ch, sc in next dc] 11 times, sc in next ch, sc in next 2 dc, sc in next ch – 29 sc. Fasten off. Join Square 3 to Square 2, Square 4 to Square 3, and Square 5 to Square 4 in same manner. This is the first strip of afghan. Repeat with Squares 6-10, Squares 11-15, and Squares 16-20 for the other 3 strips.

Holding wrong sides of Strips 1 and 2 together, working from bottom up, join Square 5 to Square 10 in same manner as above. After last (29th) sc, sc through both joinings (last sc between Squares 4 and 5 and first sc between Squares 9 and 10); repeat to join rest of the 2 strips. There will be 149 sc total. Repeat to join Strip 3 to Strip 2, and Strip 4 to Strip 3.

Round 1: With right side facing, join color I in top right corner ch-2 space; ch 1, 3 sc in same space, * sc in each dc, ch-1 space and joining to next corner, 3 sc in ch-2 space; repeat from * twice more; sc in each dc, ch-1 space and joining to end of round; join in first sc.

Round 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in same sc, * skip next 2 sc, (slip st, ch 3, 2 dc) in next sc; repeat from * around; join. Weave in ends.
