Size: About 8” square
Materials: Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn: Black – 1 oz, 50½ yd (28.5 g, 46 m); Green -1 oz, 50½ yd (28.5 g, 46 m); Blue – 2.5 oz, 122 yds (71 g, 110 m) (Red Heart Crème de la Crème and TLC – Green Shadow, Black)
Crochet Hook: Size I-9 (5.50 mm)
DISHCLOTH
Row 1: With Green, ch 26, dc in 3rd ch from hook, dc in next ch across (or make 24 dc foundation sts). (24 dc)
Rows 2-12: Ch 1, turn, dc in each dc across. (24 dc)
At the end of Row 12, finish off and weave in ends.
Edging
Rnd 1: With right side facing, join Black with sc to any corner, 2 sc in same st, evenly sc around, working 3 sc in each corner; join with sl st to first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 2, dc in first sc, 3 dc in next (center) sc, [dc in next sc] around, working 3 dc in center sc at each corner; join with sl st to first dc. Finish off and weave in ends.
Plug
With right side facing, join Black with sl st in center dc at corner, ch 15 (or to desired length of ‘cord’), 5 dc in 3rd ch from hook, sl st to 2nd dc, ch 3, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next ch; sl st in 3rd and 4th dc, ch 3, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next ch, sl st down side of plug to cord, sl st in each ch of cord. Finish off and weave in ends.
(I knotted the beginning and ending pieces of yarn, then tied them in a bow, which will make it easier to remove the ‘cord and plug’ if the dishcloth will be used to wash dishes.)
